NASCAR has allotted approximately 300 tickets for fans to the 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Awards Ceremony, scheduled for Dec. 3 at the Wynn Las Vegas. NASCAR sponsors, tracks and individual teams will distribute the tickets through a variety of fan promotions.

As RAB Racing prepared for the customary victory-lane photos following Boris Said’s Nationwide Series win at Montreal Sunday, a NASCAR employee handed out about a dozen hats and told team owner Robby Benton that he would open a new box once the rest of the team arrived.
“I looked around and said, ‘This is everybody,’” Benton said.
NASCAR’s Drive for Diversity program the focus of new reality TV show on BET
The show is billed as an opportunity to change the face of NASCAR. Ten blacks, Hispanics and women, all living in one house, competing for a job as a driver in a sport that has been dominated for 60 years by white males.
That competition will play out this fall in “Changing Lanes,” a documentary series produced by the NASCAR Media Group that will be televised on BET beginning Wednesday. BET has purchased 10 episodes of the one-hour show, which debuts this week.
Do NASCAR tracks need to run shorter Sprint Cup races?
The Sprint Cup race at Atlanta Motor Speedway this weekend will continue a tradition of NASCAR racing on Labor Day weekend.
Though the tradition was built at Darlington Raceway in South Carolina, it is now back in the South, with Atlanta hosting its second straight Labor Day weekend event.
It also will continue another tradition – both at Atlanta and on Labor Day weekend. A 500-mile race, which means fans will need to set aside four hours or more to watch the entire event.

Richard Childress Racing, Morgan Shepherd form partnership to run No. 21 Nationwide Series car
Richard Childress Racing and Morgan Shepherd’s Racing for Jesus have formed Shepherd Racing Ventures, a partnership to run the No. 21 Nationwide Series car for the remainder of the 2010 season, according to an RCR news release. The formation of the company will allow the two race teams to use a mix of RCR and Shepherd equipment and crews while also using the No. 21 car number and points for the rest of the year. It also would allow Childress or Shepherd to use the No. 21 points at the start of 2011 since they both are now owners of the No. 21 car.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. will return to the track where he won his last pole as the Sprint Cup Series visits Atlanta Motor Speedway for this weekend’s Emory Healthcare 500.
Earnhardt Jr. sat on the pole for the March race at Atlanta. He was running sixth during the race when he pitted under green for what he thought was a wheel or tire issue. The crew couldn’t find anything wrong with the tires and Earnhardt Jr. returned to the race 31st in the running order and salvaged a 15th-place finish.
